International Youth Forum: Creativity and Heritage along the Silk Road promote youth advocacy on creativity and heritage protection and preservation, in addition to raising awareness among duty-bearers of the importance of youth full engagement in promoting peaceful coexistence and sustainable development.

Ovidijus, who has already visited 26 countries with various studies and internship programmes, along his major studies in Beijing is also learning Chinese: “I believe that there are boundless possibilities to use exchange programmes to go to the universities of Australia or the US from China”.

He is impressed by the study environment at Beijing Institute of Technology: “I have been provided with health insurance and scholarship for daily expenses”.

Ovidijus has first participated in an exchange programme when he was still at secondary school: he travelled to Poland to drawing courses. He believes that participation in exchange programmes and international projects is a very good way to learn new languages, to get to know different cultures and to expand professional networks.

“Usually, Lithuanians when asked about their country, start to draw the ideal picture of the most beautiful nature, best food and people. In my experience, communication becomes more sincere when you are talking about social or political issues; international experience is a good way to get insight into various aspects of your own culture”, says Krivas.

Earlier this year, KTU has discussed plans to closer collaborate with Beijing municipality universities; Chinese Government scholarships are available both for Lithuanian teachers and students.

There are more than 90 universities in Beijing municipality area. Around 40 Lithuanians currently are studying there.
