Laser Weapon Training Systems Created at KTU Awarded Lithuanian Product of the Year 2016

The name of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) was on the top of the winners list of the Lithuanian Product of the Year 2016 Awards. The gold medal was awarded to the laser weapon training systems developed at the KTU Institute of Defence Technologies. The Awards are being organised by the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists.

The Lithuanian Product of the Year 2016 Awards have been organised for the 20th time this year. The Product of the Year title, which is one of the most important and most widely recognised by business, is being awarded to the products, machinery or buildings, started in the current year.

This year, the KTU Institute of Defence Technologies has developed laser weapon training systems for the shooters training: LT-5M-M4A1, LT-5M- SIG SAUER P226, LT-5M-GLOCK 17. The training weapons were awarded gold medal in the group of machinery and equipment industry.

92 products were named as the Lithuanian Product of the Year 2016 (81 have been awarded gold and 11 – silver medals).

Last year the medal was awarded to the beer created at the KTU laboratories, and in 2014 – to the missile targets created at the KTU Institute of Defence Technologies.
